A Day in The Life of The Technical SEO Team

By Julie Molloy, Head of Marketing 5 November, 2019

This month we’re looking for an enthusiastic graduate to join the Technical SEO team at QueryClick. Since it’s hard to know what working in an specific industry is like before you’ve even done it, we thought we’d take you along for a week in the life of Alex, one of our Senior Technical SEO Managers.

You can find all the information about the current open role here. Skip to the bottom to see an update from Alex on 2019 so far at QueryClick.

DAY 2: Hi, I’m Alex, one of Tech SEO Managers. My job is to ensure the technical integrity of our clients’ website, or as I like to put it… ‘Figuring out the weaknesses in their websites before their customers do’ ☺ I joined QC nearly a year ago, after working in agencies in Oxford & London for 5 years. I took this photo whilst working from home today, which I do 2 days each week – it gives me a break from the Oxford-London commute, and means I have a couple of evenings free to go for a run, see friends and enjoy these lovely long summer evenings. ☀️??‍♀️? #Meet #LifeInsideQC #DayInTheLife #careersinmarketing #careersinseo #careersindigital #instatakeover #technicalseomanager #technology #tech #womenintechnology #womenintech #seo #ppc #paidsearch #marketing #digitalmarketingagency #digitalmarketing #londonsgency #edinburghagency

DAY 4: A set of server log files that I requested from a client last week dropped into my inbox this morning, so I set aside tomorrow to work on these. This afternoon I’ll be mapping hundreds of redirects for proposed url changes on a client’s website. Today’s light relief is brought by tea club (pictured), and my manager, Haitham, visiting for the day – here we are having lunch at with fellow tech team ??‍???‍? #Meet #LifeInsifeQC#DayInTheLife #careersinmarketing#careersinseo #careersindigital #instatakeover#technicalseomanager #technology #tech#womenintechnology #womenintech #seo#ppc #paidsearch #marketing#digitalmarketingagency #digitalmarketing#londonagency #edinburghagency#teamlunch

Well time has certainly flown since June 2019, but I’m pleased to say that I’m still having just as much fun at QueryClick (I’ve been here 2.5 years now). Let’s recap on some highlights from the last 12 months…

– 17 QueryClick games of Kubb

What can we say… we like scandinavian throwing games!

– A week in Lisbon attending WebSummit

In November 2019 I went to Lisbon for 7 days with two colleagues to attend the super-fun (and exhausting) WebSummit. We ate our own weight in Pastel de Nata and walked tens of thousands of steps per day, and had an awesome time exploring Lisbon’s eatieries and practicing our Portuguese.

#websummit has been pretty crazy so far…

That twitchy eye kinda tired.

QueryClick paid for me to attend a 10 week Front End Web Development at Flatiron School last winter. I took 6 hours of classes in the evenings and completed numerous hours of homework, and despite all this, I loved every second.

– 1 x trip up Ben Lomond with the QueryClick team

In June 2019 a group of us climbed Ben Lomond to admire the views! A fun time was had by all, and was followed by drinks in the local pub, and an excellent Indian takeaway.

If you’re thinking of applying for the Technical SEO graduate role at QueryClick, what are you waiting for…we’d love to have you on the team!
